America Recycles Day

Avoid WishcyclingJoin us in celebrating America Recycles Day November 15, 2019! America Recycles Day is dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. It has been held on November 15 since 1997. Below are some ways to celebrate that you may not normally think of:

  1. Avoid "wishcycling". Did you know the chasing arrows symbol and "Please recycle" used on products and packaging doesn't necessarily mean an item is accepted for recycling in your area? It's best to check with your local hauler or municipality to determine what can go in your household recycling bin.
  2. Buy products with post-consumer recycled content. Whether it's paper, plastic, glass, or metal, check product packaging labels to see if the product itself, the packaging or both are made with post-consumer recycled content. Celebrate America Recycles Day and buy recycled!
  3. Use the Recycle Right NY campaign resources. The Recycle Right NY campaign provides free downloadable content including social media posts, images, and short articles for newsletters that local governments, organizations and individuals can use to promote good recycling habits. Please join us and help tie all our efforts together by using #RecycleRightNY on social media!
