Mosquitoes can be much more than just an annoyance. They can also transmit several deadly diseases such as West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).
Dress for Success: When venturing outdoors, especially from dusk until dawn when mosquitoes are most prevalent, protect yourself from mosquito bites by wearing long pants, long sleeved shirts, socks and a hat, and encourage others to do the same.
Insect Repellents: If you decide to apply an insect repellent, take caution! Learn more about using and choosing insect repellents. Always read the product label.
Housekeeping: Take efforts to reduce the number of mosquitoes around the house.
- Install or fix window screens.
- Install door sweeps or fix cracks and crevices where pests can enter.
- Remove standing water in gutters, children's toys, bird baths, plant saucers, etc.
- Filter and treat pool water.
