Ohio EPA, U.S. EPA Seeking Comments on Renewal of Envirosafe Permits
Public Meeting Scheduled July 14 in Oregon
Ohio EPA will hold a public information session and hearing on Thursday, July 14, 2016, to accept public comments about a draft permit for continuing daily operations at Envirosafe Services of Ohio Inc. (ESOI), 876 Otter Creek Road, Oregon.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Lake Erie Center, Room 155, 6200 Bayshore Road, Oregon.
During the information session, Ohio EPA representatives will present information about the draft permit and answer questions. During the hearing, which will immediately follow the information session, the public can submit comments for the record regarding the permit.
ESOI’s current operations include accepting hazardous waste from off-site sources for storage, treatment or disposal in the hazardous waste landfill. If approved, the permit would be valid for 10 years.

Written comments on the draft permit will be accepted at the hearing or may be mailed to Ohio EPA, Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization, Attn. Brad Mitchell, DERR, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, OH 43216-1049, or bradley.mitchell@epa.ohio.gov. Comments will be accepted until July 22, 2016.
In conjunction with Ohio EPA’s draft operating permit, U.S. EPA has issued a draft permit designed to control or regulate organic air emissions from the facility. The federal permit and instructions for public comments can be viewed online.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was created in 1972 to consolidate efforts to protect and improve air quality, water quality and waste management in Ohio. Since then, air pollutants dropped by as much as 90 percent; large rivers meeting standards improved from 21 percent to 89 percent; and hundreds of polluting, open dumps were replaced with engineered landfills and an increased emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
