EPA Awards Louisiana over 8,500 to Monitor Particle Pollution
DALLAS – (July 9, 2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded more than $628,523 to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) to monitor fine particulate matter, or PM 2.5. These are particles found in smoke and haze that measure 2.5 micrometers or less in diameter. The particles come from a variety of sources, and can have serious effects on the heart and lungs if they are inhaled. The grant will help LDEQ conduct ambient air monitoring of PM 2.5 pollution
