TCEQ adjusts after dike breach, fires at ITC site

Worsening and unstable conditions as a result of a dike breach surrounding a chemical tank farm and subsequent fires at Intercontinental Terminals Co. in Deer Park forced TCEQ and its partners on Friday and Saturday to adjust their response.

High levels of benzene detected at ITC fire site

Emergency crews working the extinguished fire site at Intercontinental Terminals Co. in Deer Park are addressing escaping vapors. Local governmental officials issued a shelter in place Thursday morning after TCEQ air monitors detected high levels of benzene.
